Frank's Holiday Travel Advice

Lots of people are going on holiday this time of year and destinations tend to be a bit more exotic, such as Egypt, Turkey and the Far East
A few basic precautions, and preparations before travel, can save a lot of hassle if anything untoward happens.
- Vaccinations and malaria. Ask your Murrays Pharmacist or Doctor about appropriate protection relating to your destination
- Food Hygiene. This depends on your accommodation but drinking bottled water and eating well prepared foods are basic precautions. Ask your Murrays Pharmacist.
- Local Diseases Specific to your destination.
Also while travelling, if you are going to a destination where everything is of high quality(accommodation, hygiene etc), there should be few risks. However if you are going to a destination where things are a bit primitive, more stringent precautions should be taken.
You must get expert advice on this.
For normal low risk holidays, it is a good idea to prepare for the unexpected, so:
- Make a note of your blood group
- If you have allergies or a medical condition, wear a medical alert bracelet.
- Prepare for the sun and take the usual precautions(slip.slap, slop) your Murrays Pharmacist can advise.
- Have adequate Medical Insurance cover.
- If you wear glasses, take a spare pair.
Also, especially if you are travelling as a family, a basic first aid kit is a good idea. Your Murrays pharmacist can give you advice on this.
All Murray Pharmacies can print off leaflets on all the above and the Murrays Pharmacists can give you advice on all aspects of travel health
